Outreach Ministries

Kira's Kloset
Kira's Kloset, a used children's clothing closet and book bank is a new non-profit outreach ministry of
St. Luke Lutheran Church created in memory of Kira Wraspir.
Kira's Kloset collects gently used boys and girls clothing and books through Mead Elementary Schools, St. Luke and a few area businesses to give to area children in need. Kira had a genuine caring for people and a love of clothes. Through this project it feels like Kira's spirit is truly at work!

Crosswalk Teen Shelter
Crosswalk is a shelter for homeless teens located in downtown Spokane. The congregation at St.
Luke faithfully and generously supplies and delivers the ingredients for a complete meal for these
kids on the fourth Sunday of every month.
All donated items should be taken to the kitchen in the
multi purpose room, where perishable items
should be placed in the refrigerator and freezer labeled “Crosswalk”.  Nonperishable items are put on the shelving unit just inside the pantry, labeled “Crosswalk”.

Mead Food Bank
St. Luke supports the Mead Food Bank by collecting non-perishable food items as well as toiletries.
Bags are handed out to the congregation on Share Sunday, the 1st Sunday of each month and then collected the following Sunday.  Items may also be dropped off at the church anytime during regular office hours.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Food Baskets
As we do every year, the thankful people at St. Luke bring turkeys and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners to 28 families in need. They are mostly families whose children attend North-side schools plus a few other North Spokane friends in Christ who would not otherwise enjoy turkey on Thanksgiving. The boxes are filled with groceries ~ even pumpkin pies!

Thank you all for helping us make 32 families a little more thankful & cheerful each year!

Sharing Tree
This project is a Herculean effort--greater than Thanksgiving!  In addition to the Christmas food baskets,
we also include personal wrapped gifts for the families.  Each year during Advent we put up the Tree of Sharing in the Fellowship Hall where you can select a card that will indicate an item for you to purchase.

Thank you so much for making Christmas a little more merry for our less fortunate North-side neighbors!

Lutheran World Relief Support
Lutheran World Relief is a non-profit organization that works to end poverty, injustice and human suffering.  St. Luke helps out in 3 areas of need by assembling and sending shipments of Quilts,
Infant Layette Kits, and School Supply Kits.  These supplies go out on a train yearly to countries and communities in need .

Morningside After School Club
Morningside is an after school program to nurture kids from the surrounding neighborhood.  Children from Evergreen Elementary meet at St. Luke on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm.  It is a place where they can come and receive help with homework, have a nutritious snack and enjoy active play.
